The Doe's Grace

A doe and wolf met one fair day
Beside the Inland Sea
A doe and wolf met one fair day
As the birds of the air sang a roundelay
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

The wolf bowed low before the doe
Beside the Inland Sea
The wolf bowed low before the doe
And said dear Queen, where would you go
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

The doe said, I must far away
Beside the Inland Sea
The doe said, I must far away
Remember me, I ever pray
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

The wolf said I would ne'er forget
Beside the Inland Sea
The wolf said I would ne'er forget
A Queen so fair and so well met
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

And as they parted, wolf and doe
Beside the Inland Sea
And as they parted, wolf and doe
The doe's grace with the wolf did go
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

And so it is this very day
Beside the Inland Sea
And so it is this very day
In all wolves' hearts the doe does play
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo

--- After 16 May AS XXXV

A doe and wolf met one fair day,
Beside the Inland Sea;
A doe and wolf met one fair day
As the birds of the air sang a roundelay:
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.

The wolf bowed low before the doe
Beside the Inland Sea;
The wolf bowed low before the doe
And said, "Fair Queen, where would you go?"
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.

The doe said, "I must far away",
Beside the Inland Sea.
The doe said, "I must far away;
"Remember me, I ever pray."
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.

The wolf? He gave a sad small smile
Beside the Inland Sea.
The wolf? He gave a sad small smile
And said, "Come, let us walk a while."
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.

And as they tarried, wolf and doe,
Beside the Inland Sea;
And as they tarried, wolf and doe,
The doe's grace with the wolf did go.
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.

And so it is this very day
Beside the Inland Sea.
And so it is this very day;
In all our hearts the pair do play.
Hi lee hi lee hi lo-o-o, hi lee hi lee hi lo.
