A Corpora-Correct Non-Christmas
Carol
The new year fresh beckons; the old year is gone.
In winter's dark night don't look back; just look on.
Let prophecy wile the dim hours 'til dawn
On a glistening Northern Yule.
So crash cup on cup in the spirit of cheer,
Let Twelfthnight's joy glow through the rest of the year.
Good health to your kin; in your heart joy appear
On a glistening Northern Yule.
I look to the springtime, the casting of seeds:
The buds on the branches, young warriors' deeds
As bold to the summer each youthful heart speeds,
On a glistening Northern Yule.
I look to the summer, of markets and war,
Where mighty blows clash and straight arrows swift soar;
Where deeds we'll behold that will make proud songs roar
On a glistening Northern Yule.
I look to the autumn, when each red leaf flies.
We'll reap the spring's harvest and tell summer's lies.
The feasts of October will memory prize
On a glistening Northern Yule.
I look to this feast at the Yule next to be:
May all here return; may new faces we see
For our land and our friends make our true treasury
On a glistening Northern Yule!
So crash cup on cup in the spirit of cheer,
Let Twelfthnight's joy glow through the rest of the year.
Good health to your kin; in your heart joy appear
On a glistening Northern Yule!
