A Wassail Song for King Richard
(Tune: “Balulalow” [traditional Scottish song])

Hie unto me, ye merrie men
To prayse a King these wyrds I ken;
Nae mortal soul deem hime afrayde
Gae hime forth this Wassail day

No lands hi’ owne,
Sae far fro’ home
Hi’ lion’s heart doth girde ful ronde;
Let all who hear these wyrds do syng
An’ drynke ful weele to our Faire King.

Through hi’ Crusayd done in God’s naym,
For holy fredome byrns the flaym;
Bothe men and armes doth hime bryng
Ye hear them on this Wassail syng.

The heathen land
Wonne for God’s hand
Hi’ mercy clement whar e’il bounds
Let all who hear these wyrds do syng
An’ drynke ful weele to our Faire King.
